Mr. Becker’s qualifications:

Juris Doctor, Wake Forest University, 2009; Bachelor of Science, Magna Cum Laude, Mechanical Engineering, North Carolina State University, 2005. He is admitted to the North Carolina State Bar, a member of the 10th district of NC, and is a USPTO-registered Patent Attorney.

He presently is Co-Chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee and is a former Co-Chair of the Patent Law Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association, Intellectual Property Section. Dan is also an Engineer-in-Training by the North Carolina Board of Engineers and Surveyors.

Dan is a dyed-in-the-wool “car guy,” geeky-widget enthusiast, and self-identified “maker.” He enjoys CAD modeling and 3d printing, and has spent so much time in those realms that he has added those services to inventors in addition to his legal services in the past.

Dan frequently appears at incubators and co-working spaces, such as the Frontier, Raleigh Makerspace, and Raleigh Do-all. He has participated in MakerFaire and Triangle Startup Weekend events at HQ Raleigh, American Underground, and James Hunt library at NCSU, and regularly attends entrepreneurial-events, fostering tech startups, such as 1 million cups, TechBreakfast, CED TechVenture, and . He has appeared for seminars and office hours to student-organizations, small business centers, and organizations of the North Carolina Business Incubator system. Some of these organizations are: the North Carolina State University Technology Business Incubator on Centennial Campus, Central Carolina Community College, CCCC-SBC, Alamance Community College, Durham Technical Community College, the NCSU Student Garage, and Wake Robotics.

Dan has provided patent counsel and has been an NC FIRST Robotics Volunteer Mentor to The Forge Initiative (now Wake Robotics).
